ROOTS FACULTY AND FRIENDS...

At ROOTS THEATRE ARTS we often invite surprise guest teachers straight from the West End to teach and workshop current musicals with our students. Just this term we have performers from West End smash hits Matilda, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Fame, Stephen Ward and Les Miserables!

 

The list is ever growing, but here are a few faces that have been a part of our success so far...

Jack Shalloo

Director/Performer

​Jack is currently starring in the West End musical 'Charlie And The Chocolate Factory' as Charlie's Dad, Mr Bucket!

 

Jack is also co-writer/developer of the hit cult online sketchshow 'The Sketchbank'.

 

Other credits include: Our House, Matilda, Whistle Down The Wind and Oliver.

Ben Morris

Director/Performer

Ben is currently starring in the West End musical 'The Phantom Of the Opera'.

 

Ben is well known in Ireland, having won the role of Nick in the hit musical Fame! on RTE's reality television series.

 

Other credits include: Hair, Fiddler On The Roof, Jesus Christ Super Star and Fame!.

Lucy Garrioch

Singing coach/Performer

Lucy recently returned to the UK after touring the world as principle singer onboard the Queen Mary II.

 

As well as being an accomplished actress Lucy is also an international Cabaret Artist and vocal coach.

 

Other credits include: Les Miserable, The Sound Of Music, The Full Monty, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and The Wizard of Oz. 

Chris Edgeley

Television Presenter/Performer

Chris is a presenter on the hit ITV childrens television series 'Hi-5'.

 

Chris is a guest teacher for our seedings classes and also covers TV and screen acting with our ROOTS students.

 

Other credits include: Aladdin, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Emmerdale, Cinderella, Jack And The Beanstalk and Macbeth.

Tom O'Brien

Director/Workshop Leader

Tom is Creative Projects Associate at Northampton Theatre Royal and Derngate, he is also Co-founder of the theatre company TREMers and Artistic Director of the youth theatre group The Company.

 

Tom's directing credits include: Daisy Pulls It Off, Merrily We Roll Along, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Fastest Clock In The Universe, Judy The Righteous and Christmas Is Miles Away

Amy Punter

Actress/Workshop Leader

Amy recently starred in the West End children's musical 'SEUSSICAL'.

 

Amy trained at ArtsEd London and has since performed in musicals all over the UK and in London's West End.

 

Other credits include: Carousel, Evita, Spring Awakening, Sweeney Todd, Footloose, Christmas In New York, Sleeping Beauty and Broadway To West End. 

 

Charlotte Spencer

Actress/workshop Leader

Charlotte is currently playing the lead role of Christine Keeler in Andrew Lloyd Webbers new musical 'Stephen Ward.'

 

As well as Being an established actress Charlotte is also the voice of everyones favorite dancing mouse Angelina Ballerina.

 

Charlotte played the original Jane Banks in the West End Production of Mary Poppins, directed by Richard Eyre.​ Other credits include: Oliver! in the West End and the Les Miserables movie!
 

Abii Bourne

seedlings assistant

Abii is currently studing Musical Theatre at the Arts Educational School.

 

Abii's previous theatre credits include: Tiger Lily in Peter Pan, Airy Meadows in Jack and the Beanstalk, Anita in West Side Story, Sally in Me and My Girl, and Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof. 

 

Abii's most recent achievement was winning the Tom Moss award in 2012.

 

Hannah Fairclough

Actress/Workshop Leader

Hannah is currently starring in The Bodyguard at the Adelphi Theatre.

 

Hannah's previous theatre credits include: Soul Sister, Mamma Mia London and international tour, Mother Goose, The Hot Mikado and The Wild Party.

Kate Stevenson

Singing Teacher

Kate graduated from UCLAN in 2005 and since then has gone on to mentor students who have gone on to appear in productions inclduing Billy Elliot, The Lion King and Sister Act.

 

Kate teaches singing at several academies across London including Envy Performing Arts, Upbeat Music School, Sharnbrook Upper School, The Academy of Performing Arts and ArtsEd.
